Based on 190 reviewsCamino Bistro consistently receives praise for its authentic French cuisine, with many customers highlighting the flavorful and well-prepared dishes such as braised brisket, duck confit, and traditional desserts like butter tarts. The restaurant is noted for offering good value with reasonable prices and a well-curated wine selection. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, contributing to a welcoming and comfortable dining atmosphere that feels both familiar and inviting. While the food and service are strong points, some feedback suggests the restaurant’s interior could benefit from a modern update. Overall, Camino Bistro is regarded as a highly recommended local gem, especially convenient for those in the Danforth area looking for quality French dining.
All the great reviews are 100% accurate, which is super rare. Had the braised brisket in wine sauce with seasonal veg and split pea soup and it was delicious. Our waiter told us that the butter tart was the best in the city and he was not overselling it. It came warmed up, the pastry was flaky and it wasn't too sweet, wasn't too syrupy and just the right amount of butter. You are doing a disservice to yourself to not try it. The family's owned this business forever and everyone there was super friendly and felt very genuine, which is also hard to come by these days. I'll be going here any time I'm in the area. It's that good!
What a wonderful surprise! Not being familiar with this area, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I was looking for a place to eat before heading over to the Comedy Bar which was less than a minute away. The atmosphere was quiet (likely due to us getting there when they opened), familiar and inviting in a way that made you feel like you were visiting family or an old friend. The service was friendly and welcoming. But honestly, it was the incredibly delicious dinner that ranked this restaurant at the top of my list. Coming from a family where nothing beats Nonna’s cooking, this meal was like…Nonna’s cooking! The price, for what was delivered, was amazing. The serving sizes were on point. The food was absolutely delicious. Every traditional dish had its own unique fusion twist. We ordered from both the menu and the specials. I honestly can’t say enough about this hidden gem. Will definitely return the next time I’m in the area.
I don't need to go to Montreal for French cuisine anymore. Bistro Camino serves good French foods with reasonable prices. It is located conveniently along the TTC subway line. For our dinner, the bread tasted good with oil and vinegar. The escargot was not particularly impressive as an appetizer but the entrees really surprised us. The duck confit came with crispy skin, tasted great with the wine soaked cranberries and the ox tongue was braised to melt in the mouth. When pecan tart and creme brulee were recommended as desserts, they were again surprisingly delicious. The services and the prices were both good. I'll definitely return.
If you are around in the Danforth and Victoria Park area, you need to try this restaurant. It is a rare find. Menu price is very good, food is tasty, good wine selection and great service. Take a look at these delicious dishes.
All the food was excellent. Service was very good.Restaurant itself could use an update. It is definitely worth a visit! Support Local!
Fantastic value for money. Great, non-pretentious spot on Danforth and Main. I forgot to take a photo of the butter tart, but it’s really good, highly recommend!Happy to support local and have this gem close by.
This is a nice restaurant. Very cozy and welcoming vibe. We went there on a Friday evening, and it wasn't crowded. We got seated right away and ordered the crab potato salad croquettes with spicy mayo, and the lobster bisque. Delicious. We ordered from the specials on the board and were not disappointed. The service was great and portion size good.We also had a fun chat with the staff, and they were all very friendly which is a
On a Thursday evening , found parking on danforth close to restaurant and it was free after 6pm. Our server was very polite and was prompt . A nice place to have a good conversation and meal . The slow cooked beef brisket was very good , the red wine sauce had it on another level. The shrimp and scallop pasta was done very well baked to perfection . Salads were very good and bread went well with the meals . Definitely will go back to try more French cuisine .
